Overview
Tamaki Maori Village offers an immersive cultural experience in a recreated traditional Maori village set in the Rotorua forest. Arriving by bus, guests are welcomed with a powhiri (formal welcome), then watch a haka war dance, traditional weapons demonstration, and ta moko (tattoo) explanation. The highlight is the hangi dinner — meat and vegetables slow-cooked underground using geothermal heat. An award-winning experience, it's one of the best cultural activities in New Zealand. From NZD 145 (dinner included). Bus pickup from the city center.
