Overview
Te Puia sits inside Rotorua's Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley and combines Maori culture with geothermal wonders. Pohutu, the Southern Hemisphere's largest geyser, shoots up to 30 m of boiling water, while bubbling mud pools and steaming fumaroles make the landscape feel otherworldly. The New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute (NZMACI) hosts traditional carving and weaving demonstrations, plus cultural performances and hangi (earth-oven) feasts.
Opening Hours
Daily 08:00-17:00 (evening tours run separately)
