Overview
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area lies about 27km west of Las Vegas, with 600-million-year-old red sandstone cliffs and rich desert vegetation. A 22km Scenic Drive lets you tour by car, and more than 26 hiking trails range from short walks to serious climbs. Lizards and desert tortoises live among the giant red rocks, and the cliffs ablaze in sunset light are a photographer's paradise. $20 per vehicle. About 30 minutes by car from Las Vegas.
