Overview
Built in 1180 by Philip, Count of Flanders, this medieval castle sits over the Leie River in the heart of Ghent. Modeled on Crusader castles in Syria, it features the thick walls and moat of a classic medieval fortress. Inside you'll find displays of medieval weapons and torture instruments, and the ramparts offer a panorama of the city's spires and canals. Admission about EUR 12. 1-minute walk from Tram 1 Gravensteen stop.
