Overview
The Small Wild Goose Pagoda, built around 707-709 CE within Jianfu Temple, is a 15-story (now 13, about 43m tall) densely-eaved brick pagoda — smaller than its 'sibling' the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, but slender and elegant. Legend tells of the tower cracking apart during three historical earthquakes, only to mysteriously seal itself shut again after later tremors — the tale of 'three splits, three unions.' The Xi'an Museum grounds where the pagoda stands are free to enter; climbing the pagoda itself costs an extra CNY 30. A 10-minute walk from Nanshaomen Station (Metro Line 2).
