Overview
Opened in 2018, the Sinamale Bridge (officially the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge) spans 2.1 km connecting Male, the airport island of Hulhule, and Hulhumale. Built with Chinese funding, it marks a major leap in Maldivian infrastructure, with pedestrian walkways on both sides offering panoramic views of the Indian Ocean and both cities. Sunset and the illuminated bridge at night are especially striking. Free (cars and pedestrians). About 10 minutes by car from Hulhumale.
