Overview
Founded in 1893, Kek Lok Si is Southeast Asia's largest Buddhist temple, rising majestically on a hilltop in Air Itam. The seven-tier Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas (Ban Po Thar), blending Chinese, Thai, and Burmese styles, houses 10,000 Buddha statues, and the 30.2 m bronze Guanyin statue is the temple's icon. During Chinese New Year the complex is adorned with tens of thousands of lanterns, creating a spectacular sight. Temple free; Guanyin statue area about MYR 2.
