Overview
Built in the 12th century, Oudegracht is Utrecht's central canal and the only two-level canal system in the world. At water level below the street, medieval merchant warehouses have been converted into cafes, restaurants, and boutiques, creating a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. Having a beer on a canalside terrace on a sunny day is Utrecht's quintessential experience. Canal boat tours (about EUR 12) offer a different perspective on the city. Free to explore. About 8 minutes on foot from Utrecht Centraal station.
