Overview
Machu Picchu is the Inca Empire's sky city, perched at 2,430m in the Andes — one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in the 15th century by Emperor Pachacutec, the city escaped Spanish discovery and remained remarkably intact. The Temple of the Sun, Intihuatana stone, and Temple of the Condor sit among cloud-shrouded peaks for a mystical atmosphere. Climbing Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain rewards you with a spectacular view over the entire ruin.
