Overview
Sacsayhuamán is a colossal Inca stone fortress on a hill north of Cusco, famous for blocks weighing tens of tons fitted together without mortar. The largest stone stands 9m tall and weighs 200 tons, and the earthquake-resistant construction has endured for centuries. The site offers sweeping views over Cusco and hosts the Inti Raymi sun festival each June. It's about a 30-minute walk from central Cusco.
