Overview
A theme park built around the 1886 gold rush that gave birth to Johannesburg. The highlight is the underground mine tour descending 220m into Crown Mine Shaft 14, the actual mine, where you can see how gold was extracted. A recreated 19th-century street section features gold-pouring demonstrations, and the park also includes rides and a casino, making it popular with families. The Apartheid Museum sits right next door, convenient for a combined visit. Admission ZAR 200-350 (about KRW 14,800-25,900, depending on package). About 20 minutes by Uber from the city centre.
Opening Hours
Wed-Sun 09:30-17:00 (closed Mon-Tue; holidays may vary)
Travel Tips
Visit on the same day as the Apartheid Museum for efficiency. Mine tours are limited, so arrive early to book a slot.
