State Library Victoria sits at 328 Swanston Street on the corner of La Trobe Street, established in 1854 as one of the world's first free public libraries. Admission is entirely free, with no booking required, and the grand domed La Trobe Reading Room is a particularly popular photo spot. It's directly opposite Melbourne Central Station.
