Overview
Capital Museum, relocated to its current site and reopened in 2005, is Beijing's flagship city museum, holding around 200,000 artifacts including bronzes, jade, Buddhist statues, and ceramics unearthed in the Beijing area. The permanent 'Ancient Capital, Beijing' exhibit vividly recreates the city's transformation through the Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties with models and relics, and the miniature hutong dioramas and old wedding-custom displays are visitor favorites. Admission is free but requires an online reservation. A 10-minute walk from Muxidi Station (Metro Line 1).
