Overview
Built over roughly 2,000 years starting in the 7th century BCE, the Great Wall is the largest construction project in human history, totaling about 21,196km in length. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, its Badaling, Mutianyu, and Jinshanling sections near Beijing are the most popular with visitors. The wall snaking along the mountain ridges makes you feel the scale of this monumental achievement. Admission CNY 40 (Badaling). Bus 877 from Deshengmen to Badaling takes about 1 hour.
