Overview
Langkawi is an archipelago of 99 islands, and the most popular activity beyond the main island is a boat tour visiting Pulau Dayang Bunting (Pregnant Maiden Island), Pulau Beras Basah (Wet Rice Island), Pulau Singa Besar (Big Lion Island), and the separate Pulau Payar Marine Park. The highlight is the Pregnant Maiden Lake (Tasik Dayang Bunting) on Pulau Dayang Bunting — a freshwater lake in the hills with a legend that swimming there can cure infertility, making it especially popular with newlyweds. Pulau Beras Basah offers pristine white-sand swimming and sunbathing, while near Pulau Singa Besar guides perform the Eagle Feeding show, throwing chicken into the water so eagles swoop dramatically overhead. Pulau Payar, with its coral reefs, is a separate full-day snorkel destination (MYR 350-500 with lunch and gear). The basic 4-island hop runs MYR 150-250 (boat and water only). Departs from boat jetties near Kuah Town or Pantai Cenang.
