Travertine Terraces

Pamukkale, Denizli

Overview

Over thousands of years, calcium carbonate deposits created these gleaming white limestone terraces, spanning about 160m in height across 17 tiers. Thermal water around 36C flows down the tiers, producing an otherworldly landscape. Visitors can walk barefoot and soak their feet in the warm pools (shoes are prohibited on the terraces), and the sight of the white tiers turning golden at sunset is especially magical. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it shares a combined admission of about TRY 200 (about EUR 6) with the Hierapolis ruins. 10-minute walk from Pamukkale village.

Opening Hours

Travel Tips

You must walk barefoot, so bring a plastic bag for your shoes. Arrive 1-2 hours before sunset for the most stunning views.
