Overview
Stretching from Piazza di Spagna up to the Trinità dei Monti church, the Spanish Steps are 138 Baroque-style steps completed in 1725. Audrey Hepburn made them world-famous in 'Roman Holiday' while eating gelato, and together with Bernini's Barcaccia Fountain at the foot, they're one of Rome's top meeting spots. Azaleas in flower pots blanket the steps in spring, and adjacent Via Condotti is Rome's premier luxury shopping street. Eating on the steps is now prohibited by law. Free to visit. 1-minute walk from Metro Spagna (Line A).
