Overview
Originally built as an imperial garden during the Meiji era, Shinjuku Gyoen is a 58-hectare national garden combining Japanese, English landscape, and French formal styles in a single space. Around 1,000 cherry trees of 65 varieties make it one of Tokyo's top hanami spots in spring, while November foliage and winter plum blossoms are equally stunning. The expansive lawns set against Shinjuku's skyscrapers create a uniquely Tokyo scene. Admission JPY 500. A 10-minute walk from JR Shinjuku Station, South Exit.
Opening Hours
09:00-18:00 (closed Mondays; open daily during cherry blossom and autumn seasons)
Travel Tips
