Overview
Dosan Seowon was built where Yi Hwang (Toegye), one of Joseon's greatest Confucian scholars, taught his students, and is inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with eight other Korean Confucian academies. On a serene site facing the Nakdong River, the study spaces and shrine are neatly arranged, showing the spirit of Joseon Neo-Confucianism. Yi Hwang also appears on the 1,000-won note. Adult admission is around KRW 1,500-2,000, with hours generally 09:00-18:00 (shorter in winter). It's about 40 minutes from central Andong by car.
