Overview
Jumunjin Port is a leading East Coast fishing harbor, famous for a seafood and dried-fish market where you can enjoy freshly caught seafood at low prices. Seasonal catches like squid, snow crab, and yellowtail can be eaten as sashimi on the spot, and nearby are a breakwater known from TV dramas and Sodol Adeulbawi Park. The market and port are free, with shop hours (generally 08:00-20:00) varying. It's about 25 minutes north of central Gangneung by car.
Travel Tips
It's common to buy sashimi at the market and pay a table charge at a chojang restaurant to eat it. Ask which fish is in season.
