Overview
This museum displays the actual exploration ship Fram, used by Norwegian polar legends Fridtjof Nansen and Roald Amundsen. The wooden Fram is the ship that sailed farthest north and farthest south in history — visitors can walk its decks and cabins. An annex displays the Gjøa, the first ship to traverse the Northwest Passage under Amundsen. It brings the heroic age of polar exploration vividly to life and is a centerpiece of the Bygdøy museum cluster (with the Viking, Norwegian Folk, and Kon-Tiki museums). Admission about NOK 140. 10-minute ferry from City Hall pier.
Opening Hours
10:00-17:00 (09:30-18:00 in Jun-Aug).
Travel Tips
