Set in a red 1830 harbor warehouse, this museum chronicles the heroic history of Norwegian Arctic explorers and Tromsø's trappers. Exhibits feature relics and journals from polar legends like Roald Amundsen and Fridtjof Nansen, the history of polar bear and walrus hunting, and the lives of Tromsø trappers who worked Svalbard from the 1700s. It explains why Tromsø was called the 'Paris of the North' and the launching point of 19th-20th century polar expeditions. Admission about NOK 80. Near the harbor in city center.
