Overview
Opened in 1994 as part of the University of Tromsø, this is the world's northernmost botanic garden. Built into a steep slope as a rock garden, it grows plants gathered from polar and alpine regions across the world. Wildflowers and alpine plants bloom from late May to early October, with the Himalayan Blue Poppy creating a spectacular sight in July. Free admission, with a cafe and gift shop on-site. During midnight sun season, you can wander 24/7. About 20 minutes from city center by bus.
