Overview
Established in 1868, the Wellington Botanic Garden spans 25 hectares on a hillside from the cable car terminus down to the city. Themed areas include native plants, a rose garden, an Australian garden, and an herb garden, with different flowers blooming each season. The Begonia House showcases tropical and succulent collections. The classic route is to ride the cable car up and walk down through the gardens. Free admission. Direct access from the cable car summit station.
