Zealandia is the world's first fully fenced urban ecosanctuary, located just 10 minutes by car from downtown Wellington. Across 225 hectares of forest, visitors can observe native New Zealand wildlife in a predator-free environment, including tuatara (a 200-million-year-old reptile), saddlebacks, and hihi. Travel Tips
The night tour (about NZD 95) offers a very high chance of spotting kiwi — book it. Daytime visits still yield tuatara and rare bird sightings. Allow 2-3 hours.
