Overview
Magellan's Cross is a wooden cross planted by Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan upon his arrival in the Philippines in 1521, marking the start of Christianity in the country. It's housed in an octagonal pavilion whose ceiling is painted with murals of Magellan's arrival and the first baptisms. Together with the nearby Santo Niño Basilica, it's a key stop on any Cebu City history walk. Free admission. In central Cebu City, a 3-minute walk from Santo Niño Basilica.
