Sweden's second city, known for fresh seafood, canals, and the Liseberg amusement park. The wooden buildings and giant cinnamon buns of Haga, fresh seafood from the archipelago, and Liseberg's Christmas market are highlights. More relaxed and friendly than Stockholm, it's a foodie city with many Michelin-starred restaurants for exploring west coast Swedish culture.
Best Season
June to August is the best time to visit — peak season for archipelago trips and seafood. Liseberg during the Christmas season is also recommended.
Budget
Daily budget around KRW 150,000-280,000 (lodging 80,000-150,000; food 40,000-70,000; transport and entry fees 30,000-50,000).
Transport
From Landvetter Airport, the airport bus reaches the city in about 30 minutes. Gothenburg has an extensive tram network — the Gothenburg City Card is recommended. Prepaid SIMs are available at the airport (Telia, Comviq, etc., about SEK 100-200/EUR 9-18 per week). Sweden is nearly cashless — card and mobile payments are the norm. Service is included in restaurant bills; additional tipping of 5-10% is common but not required.
Visa
Korean passport holders can enter the Schengen Area visa-free for up to 90 days.
Safety
A very safe city — basic care of your belongings is enough.
