Overview
Jim Thompson House preserves the traditional teak residence of the American businessman who revitalised the Thai silk industry after WWII (1906-1967). The unique compound combines six Thai traditional houses and displays the Southeast Asian antiques, Buddha images, ceramics, and paintings he collected. After his mysterious disappearance in Malaysia in 1967, the house was opened as a museum. A lotus pond and lush tropical garden create a quiet oasis in central Bangkok. The site also has a Jim Thompson silk shop and cafe. Admission THB 200 (includes guided tour). A 7-minute walk from BTS National Stadium Station, Exit 1.
