Overview
Wat Arun towers about 80m on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, a Khmer-style prang considered one of Thailand's most beautiful temples. Tens of thousands of Chinese porcelain shards and seashells encrust the spire, casting different hues as the sun shifts. Its silhouette mirrored on the river at dawn and dusk gave the temple its 'Temple of Dawn' name. Admission THB 100. Take the THB 3 cross-river ferry from Tha Tien pier.
Travel Tips
Cross by ferry from Tha Tien pier on the opposite bank. The silhouette of Wat Arun viewed across the river at sunset is the most beautiful sight.
