Overview
Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral is a neo-Romanesque red-brick church built in 1880 during the French colonial era, one of Ho Chi Minh City's defining architectural landmarks. Its twin 40 m bell towers are the hallmark; the building is under renovation but the exterior can still be viewed. Next door, the Central Post Office (1891) features an Eiffel-style arched ceiling and a portrait of Ho Chi Minh, serving as both a tourist attraction and a working post office where you can actually send mail. Free to view (exterior). Walkable from central District 1.
Opening Hours
Cathedral exterior 24 hours; Post Office Mon-Sat 07:00-18:00
Travel Tips
The cathedral is under renovation but still photogenic from outside. Buying a postcard at the Post Office and mailing it home makes a nice memento.
