Cu Chi Tunnels

About 70 km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, the Cu Chi Tunnels are the network used by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War — a massive 250 km, three-layer underground city (3 m, 6 m, and 10 m deep). First dug in the 1940s during French colonial resistance and vastly expanded in the 1960s-70s, the tunnels allowed fighters to live, move, and engage in combat while sheltering from bombing. Two sections are open to visitors today: Ben Dinh and Ben Duoc. You can crawl through 50-120 m sections of preserved tunnel, see booby-trap exhibits, and try the firing range (extra fee). Admission about VND 125,000 (Ben Dinh). About 2 hours by car from Ho Chi Minh City.

Bui Vien Walking Street

Bui Vien Walking Street in the Pham Ngu Lao backpacker district of District 1 is Ho Chi Minh City's biggest nightlife strip, stretching about 850 m. Since 2017 it has become a pedestrian-only zone every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening (19:00-02:00), with live-music bars, clubs, sidewalk pubs, and street-food stalls lining both sides.
