Overview
Built in 1381 as part of Brussels's second city wall, Halle Gate is the city's last surviving medieval gate. It survived by being repurposed as a customs house and prison over the centuries, and today houses a museum across five floors linked by a spiral staircase, covering medieval Brussels's defenses and guild culture. The rooftop panorama over the Marolles district is temporarily closed for roof restoration until winter 2027, so check ahead. Admission about EUR 7. Right next to Porte de Hal metro station (Lines 2/6).
