Overview
The heart of Hamburg's port, this 700-meter floating pier was first built in 1839. Hamburg is Europe's largest and the world's third-busiest container port — watch huge ships arrive and depart up close. The clock tower 'Pegelturm' at the pier entrance is a Hamburg icon. One-hour harbour cruises (about EUR 25) depart from here, taking in the Speicherstadt, container terminals, dry docks, and cruise terminals — one of the city's must-do experiences. Brücke 10 next to Pier 9 is Hamburg's top spot for Fischbrötchen, and the May Hafengeburtstag (Port Birthday) is the world's largest harbour festival, drawing some 2 million visitors. Free (cruises priced separately). Right at S-Bahn/U-Bahn Landungsbrücken.
Opening Hours
Open 24 hours (cruises 09:00-18:00)
Travel Tips
The 1-hour harbour cruise is essential. Grab a Fischbrötchen from Brücke 10 and enjoy it on the pier.
