Overview
Pura Besakih, the 'Mother Temple,' sits at about 1,000m elevation on the slopes of Mount Agung (3,142m), Bali's highest peak. This vast complex of 23 individual temples has a history spanning over a millennium. The terraced temple grounds offer stunning views of Mount Agung framed by clouds, and the most important Balinese Hindu ceremonies are held here. Admission IDR 60,000. About 1.5 hours by taxi from Ubud.
