Overview
Gunung Kawi is an 11th-century site in a valley near Tampaksiring, featuring ten rock-cut shrines (candi) about 7 meters tall lined along a river. It is believed to be associated with the Balinese Warmadewa dynasty and is one of Bali's oldest and largest rock-cut monuments. Reaching it requires descending roughly 300 steps through rice terraces. Admission is about IDR 50,000.
