Overview
Built in the 12th century, Bergen Cathedral is the city's main Lutheran cathedral, restored multiple times after fires across its long history. A cannonball lodged in the western exterior wall during the 1665 Battle of Vågen (Anglo-Dutch War) is a popular photo spot. The interior follows a relatively simple Lutheran style, but the 17th-century Baroque altarpiece and grand pipe organ stand out. Centrally located, it's an easy stop on a walking tour — combine with the nearby Korskirken church. Free admission. 5-minute walk from Torget Square.
Opening Hours
09:30-12:00, 13:00-16:00 (varies during services).
