A lowland jungle town built around Chitwan National Park - Nepal's wildlife safari capital. Jungle safaris in the UNESCO-listed park, rhino and Bengal tiger spotting, canoe trips meeting crocodiles, and experiencing Tharu indigenous culture are Chitwan's four draws. Offering a tropical jungle experience completely different from Himalayan trekking, a 2-3 day stay to try various safaris is recommended. Perfect for travelers who love wildlife and nature.
Best Season
The dry season (October-March) is best for wildlife viewing. In February-March, low grass makes animal spotting especially easy.
Budget
Daily budget around KRW 30,000-70,000 (lodging 15,000-30,000, food 5,000-15,000, safari tours 10,000-30,000).
Transport
Buses take 5-6 hours from Kathmandu and about 5 hours from Pokhara. Inside the national park, jeeps and dugout canoes are the main transport. Buy your SIM card in advance in Kathmandu or Pokhara. Cash is essential; some lodges accept cards. Tipping safari guides is customary.
Visa
Korean passport holders can obtain visa on arrival (15/30/90 days, fee applies).
