Overview
Bishazari Tal (Twenty Thousand Lakes) is a Ramsar-listed wetland in Chitwan's buffer zone and a paradise for birdwatching. Thousands of migratory birds arrive in winter, and the lake is home to endangered otters, marsh mugger crocodiles, and Indian rock pythons. A canoe ride through the lake for quiet bird observation is popular, and you may even spot a rhino bathing in the water. It's the most ecologically significant lake near Sauraha, offering a vivid lesson in conservation. Admission about NPR 300 (foreigners). About 15 minutes by bicycle from Sauraha.
