Overview
Boudhanath is Nepal's biggest stupa and one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world. Atop its 36 m hemispherical dome, the Buddha's eyes of wisdom gaze in every direction. A Tibetan Buddhist pilgrimage site, it is surrounded by more than 50 Tibetan temples and monasteries, and pilgrims circle it clockwise (kora) while spinning prayer wheels. Restoration after the 2015 earthquake has left it more radiant than ever. Admission NPR 400 (foreigners). About 15 minutes by taxi from Thamel.
Opening Hours
Open 24 hours (entrance fee collected 06:00-18:00)
