Overview
Nagarkot is a hilltop village at 2,175m elevation, about 32km east of Kathmandu, offering one of the broadest Himalayan panoramas in the valley. On clear days, the view stretches from Langtang and Ganesh Himal through Dorje Lakpa and Gauri Shankar all the way to Everest. The sunrise over the snow-capped peaks is unforgettable. Staying overnight for the sunrise experience is highly recommended, and the trip combines well with a visit to Bhaktapur. Free entry. About 1.5 hours by taxi from Kathmandu.

Travel Tips
October-November and March-April offer the clearest Himalayan views. Stop at Bhaktapur on the way to enjoy two attractions in one day. Mornings are chilly, so bring warm layers.
