Overview
Run by the Nepal Mountaineering Association, the International Mountain Museum is Pokhara's premier cultural attraction, covering Himalayan climbing history and the cultures of Nepal's mountain peoples. Exhibits include Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay's Everest conquest, the history of all fourteen 8,000m peaks, and the traditional lifestyles of Sherpa and Gurung communities. Life-size Himalayan terrain models and real climbing gear are on display, and the building itself echoes the shape of snow-capped peaks. Admission NPR 500 (foreigners). About 10 minutes by taxi from Lakeside.
