Overview
One Tree Hill (Maungakiekie) is a 182m volcanic cone topped by an obelisk and the grave of Sir John Logan Campbell — an iconic Auckland landmark. It was once home to Auckland's largest Maori pa (fortification), and traces of its terraces and ditches remain. Set within Cornwall Park, the summit walk passes pastoral scenes of sheep grazing on green hills. The hill is also famous as the title of a U2 song. Free entry. About 15 minutes by car from the city center.
