Auckland

오클랜드

New Zealand's largest city, nicknamed the 'City of Sails,' where a busy harbor meets dramatic volcanic landscapes. Built on more than 50 extinct volcanoes, you can enjoy skyline views from Mt Eden and hike on Rangitoto Island. Ponsonby and K Road are trendy cafe-and-bar streets, and Waiheke Island wine tours are popular. The ideal starting point for a New Zealand trip.

Best Season

December to March (summer) is best. The climate is mild year-round but rain is frequent, so bring an umbrella.

Budget

Daily budget around KRW 180,000-300,000 (lodging 100,000-180,000, food 40,000-70,000, transport and entry 40,000-50,000).

Transport

From Auckland Airport, the SkyBus reaches the city in about 45 minutes. An AT HOP card covers buses, ferries, and trains. SIM cards (Spark, Vodafone) available at the airport (NZD 30-50). Tap and card payments are standard; cash is rarely needed. Tipping is not mandatory but 10% for good service is common.

Visa

Korean passport holders must apply for an NZeTA (electronic travel authorization) before arrival (up to 90 days stay).

Safety

Very safe overall - basic care with your belongings is all you need.
