Overview
Opened in 2014, this modern museum honours Poland's 1980s Solidarity (Solidarność) movement. Sparked by the Gdańsk shipyard strikes led by Lech Wałęsa, Solidarity helped trigger the collapse of communism across Eastern Europe. The rust-clad exterior evokes a ship's hull, while inside, interactive exhibits, life-size reconstructions, and documentary films bring the freedom struggle to life.
Opening Hours
10:00-19:00 (until 17:00 from Oct to Apr; closed Tue)
Travel Tips
The exhibits are extensive, so allow at least 2 hours. The nearby Gdańsk Shipyard Gate No. 2 is also historically significant.
