Overview
Called 'Poland's Versailles', Wilanów Palace was built in the 17th century as a summer residence for King John III Sobieski. One of the few Warsaw structures to survive WWII intact, its original form is remarkably well preserved. Lavish interiors and royal collections sit alongside Italian and English-style gardens, and summer evening illumination events turn the grounds into a fairytale setting. The palace and gardens offer a prime window into Warsaw's aristocratic heritage. Admission about PLN 30 (EUR 7). About 30 minutes from the centre by bus 116 or 180.
