Overview
Wat Phra That Doi Suthep sits near the summit of 1,076m Doi Suthep mountain and serves as Chiang Mai's guardian temple. After climbing 306 naga-flanked steps, you reach the golden chedi, and on clear days the viewpoint reveals the entire city below. Founded in 1383, it represents the Buddhist culture of the Lanna kingdom of northern Thailand. Admission THB 30. About 20 minutes by songthaew from the Old City (THB 60-100 per person).
