Overview
Every Sunday from 16:00, the 1 km stretch of Ratchadamnoen Road is closed to traffic and turns into Chiang Mai's largest night market. Lanna handicrafts, silverwork, fabrics, handmade soaps, live music, and street food all converge in one place, drawing locals and visitors alike. Temple courtyards along the route host pop-up food courts where you can sample khao soi and sai ua for THB 30-50 per dish, while free live music adds to the atmosphere. Free entry. Starts right at Tha Pae Gate.
Opening Hours
Sundays 16:00-22:30
Travel Tips
18:00-20:00 is peak but very crowded. The temple-courtyard food courts have seating, unlike street stalls. Pair the market with a quiet temple visit just before or after.
