Overview
Opened in 1908, Teatro Colón is Buenos Aires's iconic opera house, ranked among the world's top three alongside Milan's La Scala and Paris's Palais Garnier. With about 2,500 seats, its Italian Renaissance interior — especially Raúl Soldi's ceiling fresco — is breathtaking. Acoustically it is considered among the finest in the world, and legends like Pavarotti and Karajan have graced its stage. Guided tours (Spanish/English) let you see behind the scenes.
