Overview
Founded in 1886 by British missionary Thomas Bridges, Estancia Harberton was the first permanent settlement in Tierra del Fuego and was declared a National Historic Monument in 1999. Admission costs roughly ARS 50,000 per person and includes a guided walk through the historic homestead and gardens plus entry to the Acatushún Museum of birds and marine mammals. It's about a 1.5-hour drive east of downtown Ushuaia, and the estancia is open only from mid-October through March, closed on Tuesdays.
