Overview
Martial Glacier sits in the Martial Mountains about 7km from downtown Ushuaia, making it the closest glacier trek to the city. A chairlift carries you partway up, and about an hour's hike from there reaches the glacier itself, with panoramic views of the Beagle Channel and Ushuaia along the way. In winter, the area operates as a ski resort. Chairlift about ARS 5,000; trekking free. About 10 minutes by taxi from downtown.
Opening Hours
Chairlift: 10:00-17:00 (trekking possible until sunset).
Travel Tips
Wear hiking boots and bring a windproof jacket. From the chairlift, follow the right-hand trail to reach the glacier. Clear mornings offer the best views.
